Solve : Windows Store Not opening and Apps Won't Launch in Windows 10

The Windows Store is Microsoft’s official marketplace for downloading apps, and  in windows 10 The Store app has been redesigned and its easy-to-navigate compared to the previous version of the Store app. but some times its  encounter problems, Windows Store or several Store Apps, won’t open or crashs. When this issue happen, the user cannot launch Settings or an App from Windows Store.

The Windows Apps or Settings, not working problems, commonly occurred after a Windows Update or a corrupted file system. Windows Store not working in Windows 10 is unfortunately a common issue, and happens more often than we would like. So if you’ve been facing a similar issue then you are right place to hear we have some tips to fix this problem.


Tips To Fix Windows Store Not Working in Windows 10

Use the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter

Microsoft has a troubleshooter that scans your system and detects any problems that might be preventing any Windows Store apps from working correctly. Then, if possible, it automatically fixes these without you needing to do anything.

Download windows 10 Store App Troubleshooter

First  Download And run the following Apps Troubleshooter utility.  Open the file with the Diagnostics Troubleshooting Wizard, which should be selected by default.


Then follow the wizard through, clicking Next to progress through the stages. If problems are detected then the troubleshooter will try to resolve these. after complete troubleshooting restart windows and check problem solved. If problem continue fallow next step.

Reset or Clear the Windows Store Cache.

Sometimes, too much cache might be bloating Windows Store app, causing it to not function efficiently. Clearing the cache of the Store can help resolve issues with installing or updating apps.  In fact clearing cache can resolve many Windows problems.

 To Reset or Clear the Windows Store Cache Press Windows Key + R to open Run, Type wsreset.exe and press Enter.


 A blank Command Prompt window will open, but rest assured that it’s clearing the cache. After about ten seconds the window will close and the Store will open automatically.

Reset Windows Store apps


If you found any certain app not working properly rather then other apps and store working properly so you can try to reset the specific App in windows 10. To do this fallow bellow steps.

Open the Start Menu and click on the Settings icon. Next, click 0n System and then on Apps & features in the left panel.  now  identify the app which is not working properly and click on it.



The panel will expand and you will see options to Move and Uninstall. Here you will also see Advanced options.  Here, you will have to click on the Reset button, to reset the app. Clicking on it


This will open warning window, telling you that the app’s data will be deleted and preferences reset.

Click on Reset. In a few seconds, you will see a check mark next to the reset button, indicating that the operation has been completed successfully.

Now see if the Windows Store app is working properly. It should!

Re-register the Windows Store and modern apps using PowerShell.

The Store app can’t be uninstalled, so the closest we can get is to re-register it on your system.

At Cortana‘s search box, type powershell,  Right click on Windows PowerShell result and select Run as administrator.

 This will open powerShell window. ( PowerShell is a scripting environment that can be used to automate tasks )


If you’re using Windows 10, input the following and then press Enter:

"& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"



If you’re using Windows 8, input this command instead:

Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.XML

You can now close PowerShell and open the Store app, where hopefully your problem will have been resolved.

Re-register modern apps using PowerShell.

first open Powershell window as administrator and  Run the following command

Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}


Now After complete the command restart windows and check store and modern apps working properly. still have problem fallow next step.

 Troubleshoot Windows Store problems by Running the  Maintenance Tasks.
1. Right click to Start menu and select Control Panel.
2. Open Troubleshooting.
3. Under System and Security select Run Maintenance Tasks.



3. Press Next and then wait until the System Maintenance utility detecting problems.
4. Follow the on screen instructions to fix the problems found.

 Create a new User Account on your computer

Still you didn't find the solution try to create an new local account on your computer (with Administrative privileges) and sign-in with the new account. If the Settings app or all other apps are working, then transfer your personal data from the old account to the new one.

To Create a  new User Account on your windows 10 fallow bellow steps.

 Right click on Start menu and select Command Prompt (Admin).

At command prompt window, type the following command to create a new user account

net user UserName  /add

* Replace the  UserName  with your preferred  username:



 Then give this command to add the new user account to the Local Administrators Group:
net localgroup administrators UserName /add

e.g. If the new username is “User1” then you have to give this command:
net localgroup administrators User1 /add

 Sign-out and logon with the new user.

Repair Damaged Or corrupted system files 
If there is anything wrong with your system files , This problem may arise.  So we recommend you to fix the corrupted system files to do this  run sfc scan now command. 
on start type cmd and run as administrator when command prompt window opens type : 
 sfc /scannow

This  will scan your system for all its important system files, and replace where necessary. wait untill Verification 100 % complete. After this Restart windows.

if you get windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them then try fallowing command dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

wait untill Verification 100 % complete. After this Restart windows.
If corrupted system files are reason behind this blue screen Error you didnt face any error after this step.

Edit the Registry for Connection Errors

If you’re getting a connection error when launching the store, downloading an app or updating an app, it might be some problem on registry lets make change on registry to fix the connection errors.

Note : Please ensure you follow these instructions closely because incorrect edits in the registry can cause further problems

First, press Windows Key + R to open Run. Input regedit and click OK. The Registry Editor will open. Using the folders on the left, navigate into the following folder path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles

Right click on Profiles, select Permissions, then click Advanced. Tick Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object and click OK. Now restart your system and hopefully your problem will be resolved.

Restore your computer to previous working state
If nothing works for you Then Restore your computer to previous working state.
1. Right click on the Start button (Windows flag on bottom left corner) and choose Run,
2. Type rstrui & click OK.
3. Click Next at the first screen.
3. Choose an earlier date (that your computer is working normally) and then click Next to start the restore  process.
