Twitter Converts Vine Website Into Archive

Vine may be gone, but Vines live on.

Twitter announced last October that it would discontinue looping-video application Vine, adding in December that Vine would be replaced by a pared-down app called Vine Camera. That transition occurred Jan. 17.

However, Twitter quietly turned vine.co into an Archive of Vines from 2013 through 2016, which users can search:

  • By year—2013, 2014, 2015 or 2016.
  • By genre under Highlights—animals, art, comedy, edits, music and dance, sports and weird.
  • Editor’s Picks.
  • Playlists.

The move was announced in a blog post Friday:

Today, we made an update to the website: The Vine Archive is a time capsule of all posts made to vine.co from 2013 through 2017. Jump into a classic meme, have a laugh or look up a profile.

Vine users: What are your thoughts on this new archive?
