Setting up of Webmaster tools is not a Herculean task that needs you to work for a long time. If you have a Google account, you can do the task within a few minutes.

You can do a lot of tasks with Webmaster tools. Below, you can find a few of them.

#1. SEO errors:– Webmaster tools can spot out the on-page SEO errors of your website. It will be easy for you to climb up the SERPs if you find the errors.

#2. Set geographic location:- We all know that Google’s domain extension is different for different countries and the search results each national version returns for the same keyword can also be different. You can set a geographic location as your target to get good search position in that particular country.

#3. 404 Errors:- Both search engines and visitors don’t love to see 404 pages on your site. Webmaster tools can give you insights on the 404 error pages and can make your site healthy.

#4. Search Queries:- Do you want to know the keywords you are ranking for? Webmaster tools’ search queries will help you find the keywords and the ranking position.

Setup Google Webmaster Tools

Follow the steps I have given below to Setup Google Webmaster Tools.

Step 1: Go to webmaster tools website. You may have to sign up for an account if you don’t have any.

Step 2: Then, click on Add a site to proceed further. You will be given a field to add the URL of your website. Insert the same there. (It is recommended adding both http and non-http versions of the URL).

Step 3: Now, we need to verify the property. You can verify the site in different ways. If you have a file manager, consider downloading the HTML file and uploading it to the web server.

Or you can add the following code before the closing of <head> tag (</head>).

<meta name=”google-site-verification” content=”VerificationKeyCode” />

Don’t forget to add te verfication code as well.
