Read And Write Indian Languages In Android Smartphones

Android operating system is one of the biggest turning points in the mobile industry. The first version of Android (Android 1.0) was released by the google in September 2008. After that, there are several numbers of version updates, android widgets, android games and application development has been released in recent years. We all know that android is not India-based development software, so most of the android mobiles do not support Indian languages. So Indians have created applications to read all the Indian languages like Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi etc in android smartphones.

The process involved in adding Indian languages to Android device is simple and easy to do. Just copy the “.ttf” (file format) of your choice (any language you wish to use in your mobile) to the system/font directory. But, Android doesn’t allow you to access this location or file.

You can only do the process mentioned above by rooting your device. Rooting process will be different for every smartphones. Get free Android Rooting Tutorial for all devices from freeandroidroot.com

Android Rooting Tutorial to Read and Write Indian Languages:

1.GingerBreak APPLICATION Installation.

Step 1: Connect your device (phone) with computer and enable USB debugging in your device. Settings-> applications-> Development-> USB debugging. Make sure that your SD card is mounted and inserted in the device.

Step 2: Download “GingerBreak” application from here and transfer to your phone.

Step 3: Disconnect your mobile from PC and install that Application file of “GingerBreak” in your device.

Step 4: After installation, open the application in the Menu bar and click Root button. (Your device will take few minutes to reboot.)

Now you can find Superuser application in your mobile apps after reboot.

2.Installation of Indian Font.

Step 1: Download the font which you need in (.tff) file format. I have used Tamil Unicode font for Tamil. Choice is yours, you can download any font which you like.

Step 2: Go to google play store from your device and download “font changer” and install it.

Note: There is an indication “BUSY BOX IS NOT INSTALLED IN YOUR PHONE DO YOU WANT TO DOWNLOAD IT FROM MARKET” Click “OK” and Install it. (While installing, you will receive an indication that “BUSY BOX” is already installed. Never mind that!!)

Step 3: Open the “Font Changer” options->settings->font location and give your font location in which your file is located. In my mobile the file is located in SD card/downloads.

Step 4: Now you can see your downloaded font in font changer. Press on it and it will ask you to “reboot it”. Click Ok.

Now, I have successfully installed Indian font in my device. By following the same method, you will be able to read and write Indian languages in Android smartphones.
