How to Set-up Domain Name in Blogger?

We all know that Blogger, the blogging platform coming from search engine giant Google is free to use. You will get a .blogspot Domain for any of your blog hosted on blogger.

But what if you want to take your blog to next level by having a TLD (Top Level Domain)? How can you set-up domain name in Blogger?

So today, I am going to show how to set-up a custom domain name for your Blogspot blog.

Set-up Domain Name in Blogger

Setting up a domain name in Blogger is simple. You can get everything done in less than 2 minutes. Sometimes, the process may take a bit longer based on the DNS propagation time.

Are you ready to know how you can set-up domain name in Blogger? Follow the steps given below to carry out the task.

Step 1: The very first step is to buy a domain from any of the trusted domain name providers. We chose GoDaddy here.

Step 2: Login to your blogger account and go to Settings. From a set of sub-options, click Basic.

Step 3: Under publishing section, you can see ‘+ Set up a third-party URL for your blog’ link. Select it.

Step 4: Now, you will be given a field where you have to enter the purchased domain. Don’t forget to add www at the beginning.

Then, click View settings instructions. You have to choose between two radio boxes here. Choose the first one.

Step 5: Hit Save. You can’t successfully surpass the screen. Under the error message, you will get DNS info.

Step 6: You have to log in to the GoDaddy account now. Click on My Account and then Manage my domains.

Step 7: Now, you can see all the purchased domains. Click on the one that you want to make as the custom domain for that blogger blog.

Step 8: Click DNS Zone File and select Use Classic DNS Manager. Again, click Edit.

Step 8: Hit Quick Add button under CNAME. Add the first record as www in Host field and ghs.google.com in Points to field.

Don’t forget to add the second unique CNAME as well in this way in order to set-up domain in Blogger.

Step 9: Similarly, under A (Host) menu. Add the following IPs as Points to with @ as host.

216.239.32.21
216.239.34.21
216.239.36.21
216.239.38.21

Step 10: Delete the old host files and Save DNS Zone File.

Step 11: It may take up to 24 hours to propagate name server. If you are fortunate, you can get the same in minutes also.

Step 12: Go back to Blogger>> Settings>> Basic and try to add the domain again. Don’t forget to tick the checkbox below.

Hit that Save button right away. That’s all.
