How to Setup Free CDN For WordPress Blog?

Recently Google announced that Page Loading speed is an important factor in determining your website ranking. Google also provides free tool to find your website page loading speed or you can use GTmetrix to check your website loading speed. Using these free tools, you can find what are all the files that increases your website loading time.

If your website takes more than 7 seconds to load because of huge database, HD images etc., you can use CDN (Content Delivery Network) to reduce website loading time. If you can’t afford the paid CDN services, you can make use of Cloudflare’s free CDN service. Today in this tutorial, I am going to show you how to set up free CDN for WordPress website or blog.

CloudFlare: Free CDN Service Provider:

CloudFlare is a distributed proxy server, firewall and free content delivery network. CloudFlare act as proxy between your website visitors and server, which helps your website from DDOS effect.

Let’s see step by step procedure to set up Cloudflare free CDN for WordPress website.

Setup CloudFlare Free CDN For WordPress Website:

Before getting into CDN setup, make sure that your website’s slow loading time is not because of your web hosting service provider. If you want to use Free CDN for your website we recommended using HostGator web hosting service.

Step 1: Visit CloudFlare website and sign up for a free account.

Step 2: Enter valid email ID and password and then click on the sign up button. Next step is to enter your website URL.

Step 3: CloudFlare will take around 90 seconds to scan your website (Watch “how cloudflare work” to learn more about their service). Once the scanning finished click continue.

Step 4: CloudFlare will show a list of DNS record after scanning your website (DNS which will passed cloudflare are in orange colour and DNS which are Bypass are appears in grey colour).

Step 5: Next, select your domain and subdomain and then click Continue..

Step 6: Next step is to choose plan. Select Free website and then click continue button again.

Step 7: On the Next screen, CloudFlare will provide you nameservers, which you want to update in your domain registrar.

Changing DNS To CloudFlare Nameserver

Note: Changing nameserver for your website is a simple task. Here I have explained the procedure for GoDaddy.

Step 1: To get started, log into your GoDaddy account with your username and password.

Step 2: Next, click on “Manage My Domains”. Now, select your domain name and click on “Set Nameservers” tab.

Step 3: Now, click on “Edit Nameserver” and enter the nameservers provided by Cloudflare.
