Twentyseven Global client, Play-it Health, continues to get the attention it rightfully deserves in the digital health industry. Recently, Dr. Kimberly Gandy, founder of Play-it Health, was featured in Cyber Med News for her work in improving patient medical adherence through the use of Play-it Health’s custom health tech mobile app, Plan-it Med.

Creighton O’Neal, vice president of client services for custom software development company, Twentyseven Global, said, “Congratulations to Kim and the Play-it Health team on their accomplishments in helping transform the digital health industry!”

Twentyseven Global worked with the Play-it Health team to design the Plan-it Med digital health solution, which aims to improve medical adherence through patient engagement. Dr. Gandy got inspiration for the app after watching patients struggle with engaging and adhering to their personal medical regimen. The health tech mobile app uses a variety of components to encourage users to take their medication.

In the Cyber Med News article, Dr. Gandy said, “Even in the beginning, when I first became involved in medicine, I was interested in the problems that were on the horizon, and not just the problems that we were dealing with then.”

The Plan-it Med app provides reminders and education so that users can improve health engagement. Users can receive reminders for medications, appointments and labs. Users can also accumulate points that can be redeemed for coupons, games and even reduced insurance premiums.

According to the Cyber Med News article, Dr. Gandy said, “Part of what’s missing from a lot of digital health products is the understanding that sometimes there’s just not an app for that. That’s why we’ve created a solution that includes software, services and advice for strategic implementation.”

Earlier this year, Play-it Health was also featured in Confluence Denver for the Plan-it Med App. Through partnerships with HCA/HealthONE, Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children and Uptown Primary Care at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center, Play-it Health is testing pilot versions of the app to evaluate its effectiveness.

Health mobile apps could be the future of the healthcare industry. According to a recent study by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PWC), mobile health care and the use of mobile to enable customers to interact directly with providers will be among the biggest developments impacting the healthcare industry in 2016. Kelly Barnes, PWC U.S. health industries and global health industries consulting leader, said, “Smartphones, connected medical accessories and apps have been underutilized by the healthcare industry. In 2016, care will begin to shift into the palms of consumers’ hands, helping to drive down costs, increase access and fulfill the public’s desire for ‘anywhere, anytime’ monitoring, diagnosis and treatment.”
