Despite of the fact that Cloud testing offers test efficiency and better results, there are operational limitations associated with it.  While reaping the benefits cloud testing infrastructure offers, QA teams need to manage certain challenges that cloud testing poses. Some of the key challenges faced are mentioned below:

• Security issues: Even though cloud services firms offer security measures but security of test data remains a valid concern for companies. The data transferred is secured through encryption techniques which are relatively effective but advanced security algorithms are being developed to improve security. Since the data is stored at remote server locations, stringent data protection laws no longer remain effective across international borders.
• Infrastructure limitations: While creating real time test environments on the cloud platform, test teams need infrastructure support in terms of storage, technology and configurations. Not all cloud test providers have an exhaustive offering in terms of technology and configurations which could be a real issue at times.
• Performance: Public cloud test environments might be shared by a number of users and availability of bandwidth might become an issue at times. Network outage or disruption of service is yet another challenge that the users face while running their tests. Though these can be fixed while working closely with the support team at the cloud test provider but they can hinder progression and delivery of test results on time.
• Integration limitations: Since cloud service providers have their own technology configuration, it becomes difficult to integrate companies’ internal data sets with the cloud architecture. Also while switching test providers, users find it a big challenge due to difference in architecture, pricing and server capabilities.
