Users of Iphone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have allegedly encountered excessive heat issues with the latest flagship smartphones from Apple. This has led to speculation that the problem may be caused by the new A17 Pro chip found in the high-end models of the iPhone 15 lineup. However, TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has provided insights regarding the alleged overheating issue affecting the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, stating that the cause lies in the internal design changes made to both models.

In a Medium post, Kuo reveals that his market survey indicates the reported heat problems are not related to the advanced 3nm node manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max utilize a 3nm A17 Pro chip produced by the Taiwanese chipmaker, while the standard models incorporate last year’s A16 Bionic chipset, which was introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro models.

The analyst asserts that the overheating issues supposedly impacting the new iPhone models are likely a result of Apple’s modifications to the thermal design of both devices. According to Kuo, the Cupertino company has employed a titanium frame this year and has reduced the area for heat dissipation.

Although some users have claimed that the heating problems with the iPhone 15 Pro models can cause temperatures to soar up to 46 degrees Celsius (116 degrees Fahrenheit), a South Korean YouTube channel has released a video using a thermal imaging camera to demonstrate the increasing temperatures of the smartphones.

Kuo suggests that it may be possible for Apple to address some of the issues by deploying a software update for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. However, doing so would likely require the company to limit the performance of the processor. Additionally, Kuo underscores that if the overheating problems are not resolved by Apple, it could potentially impact the shipments of the iPhone 15 Pro models.
