The Whatsapp Status feature was introduced in 2017 to enable users to share messages and photos with the community. Since then, a number of changes have been introduced to enhance user experience. Recently, the Meta-owned company released the latest version in which the WhatsApp status received a new update. Along with text, photos, and short videos, users can upload Voice Notes as their WhatsApp status. This latest option is available for all Android and iPhone users.

The voice status feature allows users to record and share voice notes of at most 30 seconds. This option can be availed by tapping the microphone icon on the status screen. Before releasing this feature to the general public, WhatsApp tested it in beta mode for both Android and iPhone users.

This latest development comes in the wake of WhatsApp admitting a massive increase in the number of voice messages shared among users as a means of effective and quick communication. Not long ago, Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, claimed that, on average, 7 billion voice messages were being shared daily on the popular messaging platform. Realizing the significance of voice notes, WhatsApp has introduced this feature, hoping for increased two-way interactions.

Users will also have the option of keeping the status private and selecting which contacts can view the status. Previously, users had to manually select and remove contacts from their status viewing list. Moreover, the Meta-owned company is planning to unveil the “screen recording” feature for beta testers which will allow users to record their screens during video calls, further enhancing user experience.
