Twitter To Soon Allow Audio And Video Calls

Ever since tech entrepreneur Elon Musk took over as the company’s boss, Twitter has witnessed a host of changes. Musk has now announced that the microblogging platform will soon enable features like audio and video calls. He also revealed that the direct messages exchanged on Twitter will be encrypted.

The Twitter CEO tweeted on Tuesday, “Coming soon will be voice and video chat from your handle to anyone on this platform, so you can talk to people anywhere in the world without giving them your phone number.”

Talking about the latest version of the application, Musk revealed that from now onwards, direct messages between users will be encrypted, meaning that the Twitter CEO himself cannot read the content of the messages. The encryption measures will also ensure that the conversation between two or more parties is secure and that the threat of a man-in-the-middle attack is somewhat prevented.

When Will The New Features Be Released?

While the encrypted messages feature has already been launched, Musk’s tweet gave no indication of the time period of the unveiling of the audio and video call option. At the moment, one can only guess when Twitter users will be able to communicate with each other via video/audio calls.

It will be interesting to see how the new features are received by the public and whether they will have a positive impact on the platform’s growth and development, given that Musk has faced much criticism for introducing controversial amendments in the recent past.
