What Does Sent as SMS via Server Mean

Have you ever seen the words “Sent as SMS via Server” appear when sending a text message? It can be confusing, but it’s important to understand what this means and how it can affect your messaging. In this blog post, we’ll discuss what sent as sms via server means, why you might see this message in your messages, and how to fix any issues that are caused by it.

What is RCS?

RCS stands for Rich Communication Services. It is a new communication standard that is used for modern text messaging. RCS has been introduced in order to replace the traditional SMS protocol, which had become outdated due to its limited capabilities.

RCS offers more features than SMS, including better group conversations, larger file transfers, high-quality images, and videos, read receipts, typing indicators, and more.

What Does Sent as SMS via Server Mean?

When you send a message using RCS technology, the recipient will usually receive a message saying, “sent as sms via server.” This means that the recipient’s device does not support RCS technology yet, so the message has been sent using an older protocol (SMS). This also means that some of the features of RCS, such as read receipts and group conversations, may not be available to them yet.

The reality:

The RCS protocol is already supported by the Google Messages app for Android. Therefore, if you notice the status “Sent as SMS Via Server,” the SMS was sent via the RCS protocol. This verifies that the recipient got the SMS and that the RCS capability was turned on.

Are There Any Issues with Sent as SMS via Server?

The only issue with Sent as SMS via a server is that some of the features of RCS may not be available to the recipient yet if their device does not support it. However, this should not cause any major problems or disruption to your messaging experience.
