Unfortunately, not all Sodastream Bottles are dishwasher safe. You can check to see if you can pop yours in the dishwasher by inspecting the side of the Bottle — if it’s dishwasher-safe, there will be a note on it somewhere. Don’t see the note? You could risk damaging it to the point it becomes unsafe, so stick to the sink.

It’s important to follow these instructions to maintain the health of the bottle for the same reason SodaStream bottles expire: If the bottle becomes weaker to the point it can’t sustain the build up in pressure during carbonation it could shatter, potentially causing harm to people nearby and causing a mess in the process.

There is an exception to the rule here: The Crystal Carafe bottle that comes with the SodaStream Crystal and can be purchased for use with the SodaStream Qua Fizz and SodaStream Penguin, does not include an instruction on the bottle, but it can be used in the dishwasher because it’s made from glass and not plastic.

If you don’t see the note on your bottle, consider upgrading to a new one, as all of the current bottles are dishwasher-safe.
