Higher Fleet Safety for an Environmental Safety Solutions Co.

CECO Environmental depends on its fleet to offer a number of field services – Installation, Commissioning, Repair, Retrofits, and Maintenance – to dozens of industries.

CECO, headquartered in Cincinnati, provides reliable, custom products and cost-effective solutions that apply a broad range of technologies for air pollution control, hazardous gas control, industrial ventilation, and product recovery. It also offers a range of fluid handling and filtration products and solutions.

Ceco Inc started with just 2 GPS tracking devices (OBD II type, which provides engine and driving diagnostic data) in 2016. Since then, they have grown into a fleet with several dozen onboard diagnostic system devices (OBD II) fitted mainly on class 6 vehicles – Medium Trucks with a max loaded wt of 8,846–11,793 kg. By taking a comprehensive approach to fleet management with Azuga’s telematics suite, they have achieved both higher vehicle utilization as well as improved maintenance.

“I would definitely give Azuga a 10-star rating, cause I think the system works well. It is user-friendly. We have seen a reduction in speeding tickets and an increase in our operations productivity. With Azuga, we were able to put a stop to the multiple calls accusing our drivers of speeding, driving erratically and breaking traffic laws. ”
Bibi Singh, Office Manager, CECO Inc.

After installing Azuga, CECO has realized the following benefits

Productivity:

  • On an average, each vehicle compiles 1,776 miles a month which is higher than the SIC average of 1,326 miles a month
  • On an average, the fleet makes 178 stops a month per vehicle which is almost 50% higher than the SIC average of 120 stops per vehicle per month

Utilization:

  • Average underutilized vehicles for the fleet (vehicles drove less than 500 miles in a month) has been 4.65%, which is significantly lower than the SIC average of 23.45%
  • Around 53% of the vehicles are being driven between 21 to 25 days a month as against the SIC average of 34.6%
  • On a peak day, 97% of the vehicles are deployed as against the SIC average of 94%

Management at CECO Inc utilizes Azuga’s reporting to discuss driving behavior. Previously, they were regularly receiving complaints reporting their vehicles were speeding, but now with Azuga, they have reduced complaints significantly through driver awareness and coaching.

Quality & Maintenance:
  • On an average 7.5% of the vehicles in the fleet have recorded DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) events, which is about one-third as compared with 24.7% of vehicles in the same SIC suggesting superior vehicle maintenance
  • On an average 5.6% vehicles in the fleet had low battery events compared to the SIC average of 13.15%
