Work Centers with MAHI

So you’ve been thinking about implementing the latest Maximo Work Centers, but are looking for more information on its specific functionalities? Let’s take an informational peek into MAXIMO Work Centers to get your organization moving towards the new Modern UI of MAXIMO.

MAXIMO Work Centers were added to the 7.6.0.5 version of MAXIMO. These enhancements are part of the base product of MAXIMO, meaning no additional licensing is required to access them. However, a small application file needs to be deployed. It has a slightly different URL, so you can still get to view the classic Maximo if you wish. A Work Center is essentially a remodeled, streamlined, improved, and responsive Maximo graphical user interface that extracts data from the existing Maximo application. IBM has currently offered 5 of these unique Work Centers. The Work Centers take a role-based approach, as each of them is personalized to provide only relevant information based on a workers role such as a Service Petitioner, Specialist, Supervisor, Superintendent, and Business Analyst. Work Centers can be accessed on any device, including desktop computers, notebooks, tablets, or smartphones, and are KPI driven with built-in IBM WATSON integration.

Leveraged within IBM® Maximo Asset Health Insights, these Work Centers provide a detailed summary of asset health scoring through visual representations. Work Centers with MAHI provide users with a tailored view of their assets suitable to their business needs, even including a standard scale to evaluate the status of an asset. By monitoring asset factors such as condition-based maintenance, asset costs, and performance, users can see when an asset is about to fail, allowing them to take corrective measures promptly. Many organizations hire project managers to look after the project status and maintain the progress of each project. Unfortunately, hiring project managers still won’t resolve or maintain the current health of your asset, making the adaptation of Predictive maintenance techniques, which will help users enhance and improve their asset health, much more effective.

According to IBM, “40% of Preventive maintenance costs are spent on assets with negligible effect on uptime”, indicating that companies can achieve better results by adopting a predictive maintenance approach within their asset management strategy. An effective asset management strategy, aimed at optimizing capital improvement, comprises of:

  • Constant monitoring and evaluation of current and historical information related to the health and condition of your asset portfolio.
  • Taking the right actions at the right time to avoid asset breakdown or over maintenance.
  • Prioritize and optimize resources as needed.

Maximo assets health insights (Mahi), with its advanced analytical capabilities, supported by the core Maximo functionality and powered by the integration of IBM Watson IoT, allows reliability managers to take more informed decisions. IBM Watson IoT is a cloud-based aggregator for collecting all sensor data. IBM Watson IoT allows MAXIMO and Mahi users to contextualize, monitor, filter and store their data for future analysis. To obtain insights about the condition of their asset portfolio, assets must be connected with sensor devices which will constantly monitor and transmit asset health information to Maximo EAM through Watson IoT connectivity.

Some of the Core Features of Mahi are:

  1. Designed with Reliability and asset owners in mind.
  2. Allows users to subscribe to warnings and notifications to take action prior to failure by using real-time data or condition based information of the asset.
  3. Helps in quantifying the asset health by observing few parameters such as remaining life of the asset, Maintenance and failure history, Asset condition based on real-time and historical records.
  4. Users historical weather data as a key hint in defining asset health. (Specifically for extreme cold or hot climatic conditions region)
  5. Curtails unnecessary maintenance based on asset health score.
  6. Provides insights to determine whether to replace or repair an asset based on the asset’s health score.

Work Centers in their preliminary state are particularly functional and well planned, and with MAHI one can achieve a lot more from their assets. For more information on work centers and how they can improve through IoT, please contact [email protected]
