The Soundtrack for Kubo and the Two Strings was released digitally by Warner Bros. Records today. Available on iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify, the soundtrack features Regina Spektor’s cover of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, which you can listen to here.

During the Q&A in Los Angeles with LAIKA President & CEO Travis Knight, he told us that he grew up with a strong connection to the music of The Beatles. “It was essentially the soundtrack of my life,” Knight said. “And one song that my mother and I loved more than anything really was ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’. And when we were thinking about this movie and tried to come up with some kind of a musical accompaniment that was evocative of the ideas and the themes that were running through the movie, my mind kept going to that song. It’s a timeless expression of love and empathy, which is fundamentally what this movie’s about.”

Kubo and the Two Strings hits theaters on August 19th.
