Keeping My Fingers Crossed

Ten million people worldwide suffer from Parkinson's Disease. It is a progressive disorder of the central nervous system that affects movement and often causes tremors, slowness, rigidity or stiffness, and postural instability. The Anavex Life Sciences corporation has announced improved pre-clinical results from its ongoing study of using the ANAVEX 2-73 drug in a classic animal model of Parkinson's disease. Now, the next stages of the trial are being funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation. The drug has been proven safe for humans and is currently being used in phase 2a clinical trials for Alzheimer's Disease. The next steps in the study would involve assessment of neuroprotective effects, which measure the capability of the drug to preserve brain function and structure.

I truly believe we are on the precipice of cures for both of these diseases.
