Gator Raid

Since 1988, Florida's statewide Alligator harvest has been nationally and internationally recognized as a model program for the sustainable use of a natural resource. Each year, alligator management units are established with appropriate harvest quotas to provide recreational opportunities for Floridians and non-residents who are at least 18 years old to take up to 2 alligators per permit.

The Nelsen family, hailing from Florida have participated in the state's alligator hunt program for years. On many a fall night they can be seen on the waters looking for these creatures. While quite exciting, they sit cramped up in boats amidst the bugs and heat seeking this elusive animal. They love the adventure, but make no mistake, they know the dangers of this sport and close calls have happened. The whole family participates in the hunting, skinning and cooking as well as the hide preparation to create their products. They make belts, wallets and boots that are unique and beautiful. They are all one of a kind due, to the differences in each hide.

Their idea of family adventures are certainly different from most! Check out the Nelsen & Nelsen profile page and see the beautiful products they make, literally from scratch.
