My Kind of Party

If you live in Atlanta, you have most likely heard of Amy's Party. If not, here's the scoop. Every year about 350 teenagers get together to throw a party. Now, we know what you are thinking, police, alcohol, drugs, etc. NOT. This is a party they throw to entertain underprivileged and disadvantaged kids, and the parents are invited too! How this came about took place in 1995.

"One December night, twelve-year-old Amy Sacks Zeide was watching TV and as she was flipping through channels, she paused on a local news broadcast. Someone had stolen all the presents from an Atlanta homeless shelter just before their annual Holiday Party and their children were left with nothing for Christmas. Amy was devastated." Hence, Amy's Party was initiated. To see the faces of the recipients of donated toys and such is quite an experience, and I encourage everyone to volunteer. But an even more rewarding experience is to see the transformation of the teenagers. A great gift to give your child is the experience of participating in an event that will stay with them forever.

So out of this wonderful idea Creating Connected Communities was born. Below is a video of one of Amy's Parties. We are sure you will agree a good time was had by all.

Arteeni's mission is to promote American artisans and support our charity partners by donating a portion of each sale. For more information about Creating Connected Communities and to select them as your designated cause, click here.
