A Celebration of Humanitarians

I could write a story about a severely malnourished child living in a disease infested community without the "luxury" of clean water. I choose instead to expose the many faces of the Action Against Hunger organization that work daily on the prevention of this outcome.

Famakan is a community health worker in Mali. His dedication to changing the way undernourished Children are diagnosed and treated in conjunction with the Innocent Project is helping to ensure their survival. Shown here with Famakan, is Khali. "Khali and I share a special bond. He is the first undernourished child I treated here in the village. I'm very fond of him."

Dale, Fundraising and Resource Development Manager in the Phillipines for Action Against Hunger says it best: "I had always felt there must be a greater purpose for me other than the accumulation of wealth. After years in the corporate sector, I found what I was looking for when I started working for a humanitarian organization. The bottom line, the goal is to help people who need the most help, instead of garnering the highest sales, the goal is to treat malnourished children. Instead of acquiring assets, the goal is securing livelihoods. I want to say to my two daughters that one day, even for just a little bit, I made a difference in the world."

It is people like Famakhan and Dale who inspire us to be the best we can be. Thanks to the two of you, and the many other faces of this organization, many children will be able to go to sleep tonight without the fear of hunger.

Arteeni's mission is to promote American artisans and support our charity partners by donating a portion of each sale. For more information about Action Against Hunger or to select them as your designated cause, click here.
