Chicca Flush Blush Review

If there's one makeup item which I hardly use or pay much attention to, it's Blush. Sure, I've gone gaga over Benefit Dandelion or Chanel Inspiration for quite some time, but that's about it. I think the reason is because I have chubby cheeks that I only wish to subtly contour, not highlight---and I crave that fair, pale look with either the eyes or lips as the main focus.

But then I got curious with the supposed "jelly" texture so vividly described by Kate of Drivel about Frivol that I had to try it myself!

Chicca is a high end Japanese brand that is owned by Kanebo. Packaging is clean and minimalist, and the products are just as expensive as, say, Suqqu.

I bought the Flush Blushes in 01 Baby Girl and 09 Fields Love:

They are shimmer-free; at first glance they appear quite dry. It does have an unusual texture. The pans are pressed quite hard, and the best way to apply this is with a sponge or a firm, flat, synthetic brush. I use a tapping or pressing motion to apply it on my cheeks.

01 Baby Girl is a nude, with a hint of pink, which shows up on me (which is a good thing, because I find that nudes don't quite work with me). It has a soft, glowy (or jelly) finish, which quite flattering, and prefect for a 'no makeup' look. Again I am a fan of soft, muted blushes and this one hits all the marks.

09 Fields Love is a watermelon pink, but I find that it shows up warmer on my skintone, and it's almost a peachy coral in some light. I have to apply it with a very light hand or else I will look really flushed! It's still quite pretty though, and the warm flush looks like I've been out somewhere cold.

I'm keeping both  because they are unique and I don't have anything similar in my stash right now. On  occasional days where I put on some blush, I reach for these two. They blend exceptionally well on skin upon contact, the texture is not creamy nor dry, but they both give a soft focused glow on my face.

I bought my Chicca Flush Blush at Bonboncosmetics.com.
