What is a Rhode Island Icon? Let’s Discuss…

An “Icon” is defined as a person or thing regarded as a representative symbol of something. In a religious sense, Icons are revered as representative of holy figures.

Do we have icons in Rhode Island? We most certainly do! They are emblazoned in our minds to the point of using them for directions, whether they are there in the present or not! How many Rhode Islanders have given directions by where something “used to be”? (Admit it, we all know of instances of these directions or have used them ourselves). 

Now, at Made From RI, we do not ridicule this icon referential behavior one wit!
