Travelling USA: magic Memphis

Earlier this year we traveled from our home in Australia to the United States for a month: part business and part oodles of fun. I've been sharing some of the great things we saw and did. Next stop: Memphis, Tennessee.

I'd been wanting to Visit Memphis since I was a little girl and finally I made it. And it was even more fun and interesting than I had anticipated.

Here are just some of the things we saw and did in Memphis (and also in Clarksdale, Mississippi).

We had some great food and drinks, heard some great music and saw many wonderful iconic places - Graceland included, of course. I was also especially happy to visit the National Ornamental Metal Museum: a must-see for someone who has been working with metal for over 20 years.

We loved the look and feel of the city and how parts of it seem to be undergoing somewhat of a renaissance. Also: Gus's Fried Chicken ... it's my husband's new spiritual home! Along with Al Green's Full Gospel Tabernacle, of course.

Memphis is also a sad place, of course, and we found it to be quite sobering in many ways too.

We also travelled all the way through Mississippi from Memphis to New Orleans, stopping in Clarksdale, which was a fascinating place to visit.
