Barclays Opportunity Account - you now need to pay in €900 per month

The Barclays Opportunity current Account used to be one of a small number of no strings attached free bank accounts in Spain.  There was no requirement to pay in your salary, pension or a regular sum each month.  However, this is no longer the case.  They recently introduced the following requirements, taken from the Barclays Spain website:

To be entitled to this offer, you must get your salary or regular income of at least €900 net paid into the account. Should you cease doing so at any time, the account would become an Ordinary Current Account and you would lose all the corresponding benefits. These conditions are the same if you are currently a Barclays customer. Just bear in mind that the salary cannot have been previously paid into a Barclays account.

It doesn't affect us as we pay in one of our salaries each month so we will continue to benefit from this account, but this will obviously affect people who make irregular payments into their account.

Unforunately, it's now almost impossible to find a truly fee free, no strings attached bank account in Spain, which is hardly surprising given the state of the Spanish banking system.
