I was quite shocked to find out last weekend at my local Golf club that the VAT rate for golf has gone up from 8% to 21% as of 1st September.  It basically means that golf, which is already very, very expensive in Spain, is now even more expensive.  It will now cost around 10% more for a round of golf.

My local Golf Club was very apologetic about the rise and was scathing about the idiotic government's actions.  A lot of the golf courses are already struggling in Spain and this rise is not going to help matters.  There are plenty of other cheaper destinations now for golf tourists and I fear that tourists will just take their money elswhere.
