M&s: The New Rules For Workwear 2021 Blog

Marks and Spencer did a survey of their customers to find out what needs there were in the world of workwear. The results have been surprising, with some major changes being made by M&S. In particular, they have reported that many women want brighter colors, different shapes, and more diversity in materials that are suitable for work. In response, they have created product lines that meet these demands. In an interview with Women's Wear Daily, head designer Tony Cooke said: "We had been considering changes to our business anyway because there was a distinct need for it." He added, "The one thing we've heard time and again is 'Please make trousers in sizes larger than 30'." This brings M&S into line with many high street retailers that are already selling workwear in size ranges up to 36 and 38. Many of the current rules for workwear will be thrown out in 2021 when these new lines are launched. For example, the color black will still be taught in some cases - in particular informal business dress or when worn with a blazer. However, it is expected that more bright colors than ever before will be popular on the high street. Many companies, including Marks & Spencer themselves, have started producing gender-neutral outfits for women that don't follow the traditional blue/grey/beige rules. For example, there are now bright green trousers or even yellow ones available at M&S online. Tony Cooke said: "There's a definite move for color and we've captured that in the new collection". The 'dress for your shape' rules will also change. Most women know about hourglass, pear-shaped and inverted triangle body shapes but there is now an additional one called diamond (which has long been known by designers). This is based on a woman having broad shoulders and hips that are not too far apart. There might be specific adjustments made to provide more tailored outfits that suit this figure type, such as nipped-in waists and below knee lengths with narrower hems at the sides. So it's that time of the year again where we take a look at the M&S workwear collection to see what's new and hot for business wear for 2021. We're going to go through a bunch of formal outfits, from those requiring conservative office attire all the way up to those which require a black tie or white tie. So let's start with what we wear to work. First up we have the M&S Black and White classic look suit which still looks sharp and refined in 2021 for men. For women, they offer a range of separates or dresses-from-dresses so you can mix and match depending on how daring you want to be. Next up we have the business suit which comes in both male and female variations. For those ladies who don't want to wear a dress or skirt, they have the M&S trouser suit which you can use to put together different outfits depending on what blouse you want to wear with it so your options are endless. 3. Then we have our classic shirt-and-tie look which is always a safe, yet professional look for men and we even see some new fabrics and patterns. 4. The next outfit is the M&S smart-casual suit which you can use to turn your office outfits into something more dressed down if you want to get away with wearing jeans but still look superficially sharp instead of scruffy. 5. Office shorts for men are becoming more and more popular so expect to see a lot of them in the new M&S line. 6. And finally, we have our business dress which is for when you're dressing to impress at formal events like awards dinners or conferences. 7. Let's move on to smart-casual outfits- we see a shirt and tie look, smart jeans, and of course, we can't forget about our M&S suit shorts. 8. They also have some smarter polo shirts for when you don't want to wear a full collar shirt but still want to look dressed up. 9. And finally, the outfit We are sure many are familiar with, the M&S two-piece business suit which you can wear to work or on special occasions. That's it for now but keep your eye out for our next article where we look at more formal attire from M&S!
