Black Diamonds, The Mystery Of Incomparable Beauty

Indeed, when you think of a Diamond, the first thing that comes to mind is a precious stone, transparent, beautiful, spectral sparkle. And despite being that type of diamond the most popular, known and valuable, it is also true that there is a wide range of colors in which you can find them such as red, purple, pink, blue, yellow, green, orange, gray and even black

In recent times, black diamonds have become highly desirable, gaining popularity to be set in jewelry of various types, including earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and engagement rings. But where do they come from? What are their characteristics? Who is using them? We tell you everything.

Mysterious Origin

Due to their enigmatic color, black diamonds keep an aura of mystery around themselves, which is increased by the ignorance of their origin. Scientists still do not agree where they arose, but three hypotheses are handled:

1. They have been created in the depths of the earth thanks to enormous pressures and high temperatures.

2. Millions of years ago, a meteorite fell on our planet, and the temperature and pressure conditions of the impact gave rise to the emergence of these diamonds.

3. Researchers at Florida International University argue that black diamonds were formed in interstellar space by the explosion of a supernova, which resulted in the formation of asteroids composed of these types of diamonds that later collided with the earth.

A Rare Prodigy

Black diamonds are considered rare. They have only been found in Brazil and Central Africa. They are found in very specific geological formations, they are porous, and in their natural state, they appear like a piece of wood charcoal.

The intensity of black covers different gradations; the palest is gray or has green touches, the darker ones come to show a brown hue. Deeper blacks lack nuance.

Their color is opaque and is determined by graphite. Unlike other diamonds, which receive their hue from biological impurities such as nitrogen and hydrogen, black diamonds are due to the inclusion of graphite throughout their structure.

In this way, the only difference that a black diamond has with a colorless one is those graphite inclusions that the latter do not have.

Of Two Kinds

Due to their rarity and the demand, they have had in recent years, specific techniques have been developed to apply a treatment to diamonds of another color to give them the characteristic black tone.

Thus, a type is the “real” black diamond, and another that is “charred,” which is colored with intention but is still a fine diamond.

One of the most famous black diamonds on television is the one that Mr. Big gave Carrie Bradshaw in an engagement ring on the popular series  Sex and the City  while saying, “Because you are not like anyone else.”

In the real world, actress and model Carmen Electra also received a black diamond engagement ring from musician Rob Patterson.

On the other hand, stars like Katherine Heigl, Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett, Evan Rachel Wood, Jennifer Lawrence, Lauren Conrad, and Sarah Jessica Parker have worn earrings with these diamonds on several occasions.

Gwyneth Paltrow is the happy owner of a black diamond-encrusted link bracelet, while Angelina Jolie presented Brad Pitt with cufflinks with the same stone.

Why Do We Like Them So Much?

Black diamonds retain the charm of being one of the most valuable gems in existence, and their color, which makes them even more rare and unique, adds fascination. They look great on any jewelry and can be worn by both men and women.

The jewels made with them have a modern and brilliant look; playing with contrasts, a refined aesthetic, and a beautiful finish is achieved. If combined with white gold and colorless diamonds, you get a jewel of Incomparable Beauty that can become “the queen” of your jewels.

A black diamond is among the best gifts for women and for birthdays. Surprise the woman in your life with one of them and give her an unforgettable moment forever.
