Have a Little Princess to Dress? Check Out Rent The Runway’s New Service

You’ve probably heard of Rent the Runway. This iconic service has been a real lifesaver for many a fashion-conscious woman over the last few years. If you’re not sure, this is a service that allows you to rent high fashion items for big nights out, rather than purchase them outright for yourself.

The idea is that you rent for the night and obviously pay a rental cost. Then, once you’re finished, you simply send it back and you’re done! You looked amazing on your night out and your Instagram feed is packed with pictures of you looking fantastic. What more could you want?

Of course, this service has major benefits and as a result, it’s become extremely popular. With popularity comes market growth, so it’s no surprise that Rent the Runway have decided to expand their service and will soon start renting out children’s clothing for ages 3-12 years. If you and your little one have a big event coming up, you can rent a designer name Outfit for them (and yourself), look amazing and then send it back, without having to spend a fortune on something they’re probably only going to wear once.

What do you think? Great idea or a waste of time?

You could look at this either way and it really depends on whether or not you’re going to have any major events to attend. If it’s a big deal and it’s only once, renting an outfit could be a great money saver. However if you regularly have events that you need to attend, surely having a wardrobe of go-to items of your own could be a better choice?

You also have to think about the fact that most children aren’t careful when running around and playing! Children don’t tend to sit at their event table and people watch, they’re more likely to be playing with other children and getting into messes – it’s what kids do! So, if something happens to the outfit, e.g. a tear or a major stain, what happens then?

Rent the Runway for kids is probably going to be a love it or hate it deal. But, you can’t deny that the idea is very tempting if you really do have some big event on the horizon and you know that you’re going to need to purchase designer togs just for one night. In that case, the money saved is a far better option.

What is your take on it? Would you rent an outfit for your child in this way?
