Rolex Forecast For 2023: 10 Things You Need To Know

Tags: rolex

The year 2022 went like a breeze, and here we’re looking forward to 2023 enthusiastically. But it is the Rolex community that seems to be most excited. As the year counts its final months, the brand fanatics get restless thinking about what Rolex will do in the upcoming year.

For example, what popular variations will surface, what colours will it add, if the prices will increase, etc. And after analysing everything that has been going on, it is safe to say that 2023 will be no different!

The expectation from Rolex is always high. The brand never fails to amaze its fans and followers with standout releases that eventually become great investment options fetching great value when you sell your Rolex. In 2022, we saw 3 most amazing releases from Rolex:

  • Rolex Air-King in a completely new design
  • Left-handed GMT-Master II
  • Rolex Datejust in 36mm & 41mm

So, this was for 2022. Moving forward to the 2023 predictions, we can all agree that the possibilities for the brand are endless.

Here we’ve compiled a list of the top predictions we believe Rolex will present in the coming year.

Top 10 Rolex forecast for 2023

1. No price hike

Given the ongoing financial situation and inflation record, we predict that Rolex will not increase the prices of its watches in 2023. Rolex is a brand that will continue to incur sales with hiked prices. But the market volatility and global market condition hint that the brand will resist increasing the costs until things stabilise.

2. Popular Rolex models will be off the shelf

If you ought to believe us, then the year 2023 will be more about finding out what Rolex discontinued rather than what the brand released. Every year, the fan community inspects the Rolex website to find out which model is missing. And, in 2023, we predict that Rolex will discontinue not just one but maybe multiple popular models in stainless steel or other.

This would give a chance to clear the shelf and produce more models in precious metals. Even though it is too early to forecast the names, the Pepsi, Batman, Kermit, coloured Oyster Perpetual, and Wimbledon Datejust are some of the top watches we believe Rolex will discontinue.

3. Improvement in authorised dealer supply

Rolex is increasing its investment in production and reducing its authorised dealer network. This means we can see a smooth supply of Rolex watches in retail shops in 2023. While this comes as great news for those staying near one of Rolex’s authorised dealers. But it is a disappointment for those staying away.

4. Launch of a Gold Datejust

Enough of discontinuation stories, and our biggest 2023 prediction is that Rolex will produce a Datejust in either solid yellow or rose gold. We all know Datejust’s popularity in the market, especially on a jubilee bracelet. Therefore, releasing one of its most desirable watches in precious gold will boost this collection!

As said above, Rolex is trying to craft more watches in precious metals. So, if you truly think about it, Rolex releasing a Datejust in solid gold sounds logical. Rolex, anyway, sells off anything it produces. So, why not sell Rolex timepieces with a higher margin?

5. New Two-Tone Rolex GMT-Master II

We all have secretly wished for Rolex to bring back the Coke in black & red bezel, more after they released the Pepsi in blue & red bezel. For 2023, we’re predicting that Rolex will offer new two-tone watches. One is a new two-tone GMT-Master II with a green bezel, and the second is an all-Tiffany blue bezel.

We picked these two colours because, historically speaking, these are the 2 most successful ones. Therefore, it would only make sense if Rolex released a new two-tone GMT-Master II in 2023. Fingers crossed!

6. Submariner with a new colourful dial

If Rolex wants to tap into the trend, it will incorporate red in its most popular collection, which is the Submariner. Over the years, Rolex has led the movement with its fascination for green sports timepieces, followed by the Tiffany blue dial Oyster Perpetual. And, now it’s time to do something unusual.

However, even if Rolex introduces a new red dial, it won’t be the first! Omega and IWC have already championed the red dial and achieved commendable success. But if Rolex truly releases a Submariner with a red dial face, it will definitely be the most brilliant release of 2023!

7. No more delays in availability

Rolex has always received a strong backlash for announcing new watch releases and not making them available in retail stores until half the year passes. But now, with a regulated production, we expect Rolex to supply enough watches to their authorised dealers in 2023 immediately after release.

Come to think of it, Rolex pays attention to its followers’ grievances. This is because it consciously tried to normalise the demand and supply ratio after the community voiced the issue.

8. Watches & Wonders will be their new release destination

The first official date of the annual watch event of 2023 is March 27th, and Rolex will release their new timepieces at Watches & Wonders on the same date. Rolex was present at the venue last year; hence, we expect to see it again on March 27th, 2023, in Watches & Wonders.

9. Increase in Lady’s Rolex sport watches

The Datejust is a prominent collection and is highly popular amongst women. For 2023 we predict that the brand will release more options for women in steel sports watches. As we’ve been predicting all good things, what if Rolex releases a new 37mm Submariner for the lady’s wrist? All we can do is wait for now.

10. Decline in the pre-owned market for Rolex watches

With everything going on, it is not hard to predict that the pre-owned market for Rolex watches will decline in the coming year. Globally, people are struggling to cope with the increasing rates and hence are tightening their spending. Therefore, the prices of luxury items will naturally decrease. This is a good thing, as the craze in the secondary market was going overboard and was in desperate need of correction.

Therefore, we expect that in 2023, Rolex prices will decline in the pre-owned market. Moreover, as Rolex improves its production, it will be another factor that will weaken the used market.

CONCLUSION

After days of market research and turning back the pages of history, we foresee this for 2023. However, you need to know that the predictions are speculative and are in no way available on the official Rolex website. With 2022 ending in just 2 months, it is time to gear up for the new. Hence, we did our part by releasing the Rolex 2023 edition!
