Carol's Daughter Conditioner Review

Carol's Daughter Sacred Tiare Leave In Conditioner. Lamp and my hand not included.

A company called Carol's Daughter brings us today's Hair conditioner review, and full disclosure, this was an impulse buy at CVS.  At CVS, like Target, I find it impossible to get out without spending at least $50. I never walk out with only the item I came in for.  I have a problem. Lisa (Carol's daughter, in case you didn't catch that) founded Carol's Daughter in 1993 when she began creating "high quality products made with love" in her Brooklyn kitchen.

I've been eyeing this brand for quite some time, and have several of their items on my Amazon Wish List.  This leave-in conditioning spray promises to restore strength, prevent damage, and smooth away frizz. The spray is made with coconut oil, calendula, and pro-vitamin B5.  It is for damaged, frazzled, frizzy, and unruly hair. Since my hair is pretty beaten up from being colored for the last 150 years, this seems a good fit for me.

First Impressions

My first impression, to be honest, was that it smelled strange.  Not bad, just...different. After doing some digging around on the interweb, I discovered some reviews that said it smells like Tiare flowers; I have never smelled Tiare flowers, so I'll assume that's what the unfamiliar smell is.  The spray contains no silicones, parabens, petroleum, mineral oil, or artificial colors, all of which contributed to damage and breakage.  I used the spray initially when I was letting my hair air dry. However, after realizing that my newly layered hair looked terrible when air dried (after my husband kindly said, "Your hair looks like that kid from 'Fear the Walking Dead,'" I started blow drying my hair after washing.  I only wash my hair a maximum of every other day.

Experience

I use Carol's Daughter's Sacred Tiare Leave-In Conditioner on any days that I don't have something to prep for (like a night out or a meeting, when I will generally use a volumizing  product, hair oil, etc.).  It leaves my hair super soft and helps immensely with the post-shower comb out.  I do have to be careful, however, because if I use too much of the product my hair feels grimy, like I need to wash it again.  I have pretty fine hair but a good amount of it, and since my hair is longer than my shoulders I use around 10 spritzes per use.  In California, my hair is kind of wavy but mostly straight (due to lack of humidity), but I'm interested to see how this product would do if I, say, bring it to Ohio with me over the summer (when there's 97% humidity and my hair is curly.  How weird is the world?)

Summing Up

Overall, I'd probably give this stuff a 7 out of 10.  It's priced well, it works, it's easy to get, but it's not miraculous. You can buy it on the Carol's Daughter site, currently on sale for $8.80, on Amazon for $10.32 (free shipping if you have Prime.  Prime is great.) or at CVS for $12.79 (I'm surprised I got this as an impulse buy at that price.  I must have needed a pick-me-up.)
