If you are thinking of taking your Pets on a Trip with you, it is wise to prepare well in advance. Assuming that the trip is going to be by car, be sure to take your pet with you on some excursions to acclimate him to riding in a car. Here are a few more tips to consider:
- Once he or she is used to the car experience, they may be anxious to accompany you on another ride. Dogs usually like to go for rides, cats maybe not so much. However, a cat can usually figure things out on their own if they are with their owner.
- If the trip is for a longer distance, have a crate that the animal is used to so that they can find a refuge of comfort and safety. Then they can go into the crate and sleep if they want.
- If you have a pet who is extremely anxious about traveling, talk to your veterinarian about some Dramamine to make the transition to traveling easier. Always contact your vet before medicating your pet.
