CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Panzer PVP3020LQ Desktop Review

With heavyweight components and exotic looking system cases, gaming desktops have always been known for their high price. In exchange, you have received plenty of performance for extended gaming sessions. Especially with computers like Cyberpowerpc Gamer Panzer PVP3020LQ the performance is stellar, but does it really justify the high price tag the computer in question has? I’ll take a look into this matter below!

Gaming performance

As you could expect from so expensive desktop, the CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Panzer PVP3020LQ has GeForce GTX 1080 (8GB VRAM) commanding the graphics. The card is Nvidia’s flagship, plowing through any game you throw at it with decent frame rates. You can go as high as Quad HD (3840×2160) resolution, max out settings and games will still work fine. For example, you would be looking at +60FPS on Triple A titles like Doom, Battlefield 4 and GTA 5 on such a setup. The GTX 1080 also supports Virtual Reality if you are into that stuff. Obviously, the card can be upgraded but I don’t think there are slots for a second graphics engine inside.

General performance

The processor in CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Panzer PVP3020LQ is Intel Core i7-7700K, and guess what? It is Intel’s flagship CPU, belonging to the high-end i7 family and the latest 7th generation line. The i7-7700K runs on four cores and a base clock speed of 4.2GHz – which is darn high already. The turbo boost will momentarily increase the frequency to 4.5GHz. If it’s not clear already, this is the processor you want to get for serious gaming or very demanding software work, such as professional image or video editing – the CPU Mark score is a tremendous 12000!

There is 32GB DDR4 memory installed on this desktop. To be honest, only in very rare instances the system could utilize all that. You have a plenty of RAM in reserves and will never run out of it. The configuration is four 8GB sticks, taking all the RAM slots on the mainboard. I guess you could upgrade the memory even bigger but I don’t see any point in that.

Two storage drives are inside the CyberpowerPC. The first is a two terabyte 7200RPM hard drive which I recommend for storing the majority of your static data, like images, videos and such. But yes, there’s also another drive, a 256GB NVMe SSD. Windows 10 is installed on this. You can also install games on that drive which will ensure they will be loaded and will operate fast!

Ports and interfaces

A great deal of ports is available on CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Panzer PVP3020LQ, so the desktop will easily accommodate all your peripherals. The selection of USB ports is two USB 2.0 and six USB 3.0, you will probably want to use the USB 3.0 due to much greater transfer rates.

The graphics card has interfaces for HDMI, DVI and DisplayPort. Pick your poison freely, and remember that at least three monitors can be hooked up to this computer at the same time.

It is a bit unfathomable a desktop this expensive doesn’t feature DVD burner. Maybe the manufacturer thinks everyone will download their games and programs from Internet (which, by the way, is not so far from the truth). Either way, you can use an external drive, or even install one inside – I believe there’s a free slot for optical drive in the case.

The desktop only comes with a Gigabit Ethernet port for networking, but you can purchase simple USB-WiFi dongle if you want wireless Internet here. Those dongles cost a few dollars and work in a plug and play manner on the USB port.

Miscellaneous things

CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Panzer PVP3020LQ comes with a wired gaming keyboard and mouse. Monitor, unfortunately, isn’t included in the deal.

While the system is liquid cooled there are still some fans in the case so it’s not completely silent. Users haven’t reported any heat problems with this computer.

There’s no definite information about power supply, but some users have reported a 650 watts PSU lives inside.

Reasons to buy this

Well, the obvious reason is the gaming performance. If you really are a die-hard player you can not go wrong with the GTX 1080. With any game, no matter the age, settings or resolution, the system is going to spit smooth frame rates.

If you also do some resource-intensive software work, CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Panzer PVP3020LQ is for you. As far as I know, there are no faster processors currently in the market. Also, the 32GB RAM makes sure multitasking will be smooth as well. As operating system is installed on the SSD, Windows loading times will be calculated in seconds.

Reasons not to buy this

It’s not a good idea to waste your money on this desktop if you’re not an avid gamer. The graphics card (plus other components) cost a lot of money. If you can not put them to good use, it makes no sense to buy this high-end desktop. In essence, it’s only for gamers and power users.

Verdict

Looking at the performance, CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Panzer PVP3020LQ is probably the best money can buy for you. The processor, RAM, storage and graphics are all top notch. There is no question whether this rig could suffice for the most demanding gamers. The flip side of the coin is, this computer also costs an arm and leg. Thus, I wouldn’t recommend it for occasional players. Only those very serious about their gaming hobby should get this beast of a computer!
