Pearl Gemstone Also Have A History In Itself

Pearl gemstone enhance the beauty of a woman, but it has more significance than that. It has a history of its own that is little known to many.

The oldest pearl recorded to be found in history was 7,500 years back and was known as the U mm Al Quwain Pearl. It was found in a grave that was said to be located in present day UAE.

That was a Natural Pearl, but the pearl industry has come a long way from there. Owing to the rarity and the time taken to get natural pearl, mankind has found a way to culture Pearls too.

The Name And  Origin Pearl  Gemstone

Pearls are the only gemstones  that come from a living creature: Regardless of being classified as a gemstone .

All other precious stones molded in the earth’s crust are magma cools under high pressure.

Did you know that the first ever cultured pearl was created by Kokichi Mikimoto? In the year 1878, he started experimenting as to how to experiment with pearls.

After trying for two decades, he successfully cultured pearls in 1896 and obtained a license for it.

But this has hit the natural pearl stone price market because people have adopted the artificial market more than the natural pearl because of price restraints.

Culturing Pearls

Pearls are basically biological gemstones. These are fashioned by shelled mollusks like oysters and mussels. They are mostly made up of nacre or the mother of pearl, which is a complex chemical combination of proteins that form mollusks shells and calcium carbonate or aragonite.

The arrogant micro crystals then build up around the irritant. It takes a pearl 6 months to form. While that is a holistic timeline, each type of pearl takes a certain amount of time to form.

However, it takes at least 6 months to form a pearl. Sometimes, the process can last for as long as 24 months.

The process begins when a farmer delicately implants a tiny nucleus inside the mollusk. The growth of the pearl depends on how long it takes to recover from the implantation.

It should be mentioned that Chinese freshwater pearl can grow up to 5 mm per year, while Japanese Akoya pearls can grow up to 0.3 mm.

Where Are Pearl Gemstone Found And Cultured?
