In the week after the Orlando massacre, I had the television on and was startled to hear Donald Trump shouting LGBT during a speech he was struggling with. He isn’t used to saying LGBT, and his remarks were insincere. He even managed to mangle the simple acronym. I guess we can add the gay community to the list of groups he is pandering to.

It’s important to be clear that Donald Trump is NOT a friend of the gay community. He never has been and never will be. We know that he’s no friend to the Latino community. No one can forget his specious claim that Mexicans are “bringing drugs, they're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” The Mexican people are ‘good people’ and Trump is not ‘good people.’
I strongly believe that reality television host Donald Trump is unqualified to be president, and I presumed that most people agree with me. I’ve looked at some early polls and it’s clear that Trump has strong support in Texas and the deep south and some states in the midwest, and I was surprised by that. I’ve got some work to do, and we all have some work to do, to convince a majority of people that Donald Trump is unfit for any office.
Trump’s most vocal critics during the primary season have been members of his own party. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) have both characterized the presumptive nominee as xenophobic and racist and reiterated the charge when his comments about the heritage of Judge Gonzalo P. Curiel went too far. In my opinion, being a racist should disqualify ANY candidate from running for higher office.
Donald Trump’s New York real-estate businesses have been sued twice by the Department of Justice for racial discrimination. While the Trump Organization settled the cases, there was enough evidence to file the complaints.
In 1989 a twenty-eight-year-old woman was jogging in New York’s Central Park, and she was brutally raped and assaulted. One Hispanic and four African-American teens were charged and wrongly convicted of the crime. Trump placed full-page ads in New York newspapers demanding the death penalty for the five defendants. Writing for The Guardian, Oliver Laughland describes how Trump inserted himself into the debate surrounding the fate of the Central Park Five, and the racist remarks that continue to haunt the GOP candidate.
Just two weeks after the Central Park attack, before any of the boys had faced trial and while Meili remained critically ill in a coma, Donald Trump, whose office on Fifth Avenue commanded an exquisite view of the park’s opulent southern frontier, intervened.
He paid a reported $85,000 to take out advertising space in four of the city’s newspapers, including the New York Times. Under the headline “Bring Back The Death Penalty. Bring Back The Police!” and above his signature, Trump wrote: “I want to hate these muggers and murderers. They should be forced to suffer and, when they kill, they should be executed for their crimes. They must serve as examples so that others will think long and hard before committing a crime or an act of violence.”
One year after the Central Park Five were convicted, John O’Donnell, a former executive who ran Trump Plaza hotel and casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, published a tell-all alluding to his former boss’s casual racism behind closed doors.
He quoted Trump as saying: “I’ve got black accountants at Trump Castle and at Trump Plaza. Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.”
In a later interview with Playboy magazine, Trump labeled his former employee a “fucking loser” but added: “The stuff O’Donnell wrote about me is probably true.”
Donald Trump swears that he “has the best words” and is a very good judge of character. If he had his way, five innocent teenagers would have been executed and there are no words to justify or explain away his assertions. He is trigger happy with his mouth, trigger happy on twitter, and could be trigger happy with nuclear codes.
His disdain for Barack Obama was entirely motivated by race. The crazy people who blindly supported Trump’s 'birther' conspiracy theory never seemed to realize that even if Obama was born in Kenya, he had an American mother and therefore would still be an American citizen. WTF?If a majority of the American people elect a racist bigot to be our president, the fabric of our nation will be destroyed. I hope that we can all work to ensure that Trump never gets the keys to the Oval office. Racism has no place in our society and we all have to work together to eradicate racial bias.
Those are MY best words and I pray they make a difference.
