This morning I went down to pray at the Abortion centre in Twickenham belonging to the British Pregnancy Advisory Service.

The building used to belong to a convent of nuns and had a chapel in the front room. In the morning, a collection of people arrived for an abortion. One woman was 19 weeks pregnant. Another couple had come all the way from Scotland, during a 12 hour journey to have the abortion. They were 17 and 18 and about to go to University. The boyfriend was visibly upset and shaken by the experience.

While I was there the counsellor told me that a local funeral director had told her that the abortion centre use the funeral service for burials of some of the babies (though not all). The funeral director was personally opposed to abortion. The director said that the abortion centre uses a microwave to defrost the frozen aborted babies in order to prepare them for burial services. The question that came to my mind was - is this legal? It would be necessary to ask the Care Quality Commission and the Human Tissue Authority the answer to this question. The abortion centre is happy to treat aborted babies in an undignified manner - treating them like a peace of meat, rather than respecting the bodies of dead babies. What would happen if the microwave was sufficiently warm to cook the babies - would there be cooked baby meat? What if the microwave was used by the staff as a dual purpose microwave for lunches and defrosting?

In the book Gosnell, it is described how an infamous abortionist from Philadelphia kept the feet of aborted children, possibly as 'trophies' in the basement of his abortuary. The abortuary was filthy and cats used to walk around the centre. Gosnell performed many botched abortions and illegal late term abortions.

We continue to pray for a culture of life so that no more babies die from abortion and no more women are wounded from the experience of an abortion.
