Digital Marketing Update – January 2016

Welcome to our first Digital Marketing Update of 2016. This month is filled with top news stories and insights from the world of digital, upcoming events, a new Stat of the Month, and conferences we’ll be participating at.

As we kick off 2016, we look ahead to what we hope to accomplish. We’ll try and kick it through the uprights, and not miss wide left…

We’re not disappointed at all….nope, not at all…well, at least the Portland team is not disappointed. The Minnesota team however: well it’s too soon to talk about.

We’re also happy to announce that we ended 2015 with 100% of our employees jail-free! (Keep reading for more on that)

Seasonal Trends & Events

A new year brings new holidays, events and a change in seasonal activity. Here’s what’s tending now and in the near future that you might want to start planning for.

New Year, New Opportunities

Comparing year over year growth for many of our campaigns shows that multi-channel initiatives lead to larger percentage of yearly gains. Here are some ways that you can take your current Marketing initiatives to the next level in the new year.

Start a Newsletter
Newsletters are a great way to keep in touch with your current and future customers throughout the year. By leveraging your organic, Paid, and social media efforts, you can start to grow your list of email subscribers.

Remarketing to Visitors whom have not yet Converted
While Newsletters are a great way to keep in touch with customers they have to subscribe to your list first. Remarketing (aka retargeting) is a great alternative to stay in front of your visitors after they leave your website if they’ve yet to convert or subscribe. And just like newsletters, you can leverage your existing site traffic for your remarketing efforts.

Extend your SEO & Paid Search Campaigns
There are now up to 4 paid listings at the top of an individual search page. This is causing fewer searchers to make it down to the organic listings. The importance of being in both spots for your keywords is growing. If you have an organic or paid search campaign that’s generating you solid new business you should consider extending it into the other listings on the page.

Increase Your Blogging & Content Initiatives with Paid Amplification
With organic social marketing reach now at their lowest levels many companies are turning to paid promotions to amplify their content visibility and grow their audience. If blogging and content creation is on your list this year, you should consider using paid promotions to promote and ampliy your content initiatives.

Groundhog’s Day

Don’t be caught up in a never ending routine. Make sure your marketing plan is trying new and exciting things in 2016.
