It seems like you've barely taken down the Halloween decorations and you've begun to be bombarded by Marketing efforts designed to loosen up your purse strings for the holiday season. Little surprise then that the company at the forefront of the American retail revolution, Walmart, should also find a new and innovative way to make every parent's Christmas that little bit more disfunctional. This season, Walmart has launched a website targeted and marketed specifically at children. The website motif and design allows children to draw up a wish list of toys they want, and then email this list to their parents. This, combined with the fact that generally speaking Walmart's prices tend to be amongst the lowest, displays some very clever marketing. While I'm sure many parents will not look on this too kindly, there can be no doubt that this is an excellent strategy - focus on your target audience and simplify the buying process. In short, play to your strengths. Genius.
