Three Steps to getting your business listed on DMOZ

There are a relatively small number of steps which need to be followed to submit your website for listing on DMOZ.

Note these have to be done properly, for if you do not and put your Business into the correct section your listing may be rejected, and you will not get a second chance to re-enter your details.

Step 1 – Ensure that your website is not already listed on DMOZ

The first and most important step is to ensure that your website is not already Listed on Dmoz. This can be easily done by using the search option which is located at the top of the DMOZ homepage.

Step 2 – Determine the correct section in which you need to register your business

This step is absolutely crucial because DMOZ will not accept listings which are targeted at irrelevant or incorrect sections.

So break your search options down as far as possible to ensure that the most accurate listing can be achieved. If you are a chiropractor based in the UK, an example of this could be:

  • Regional
  • Europe
  • UK
  • Health
  • Complementary & Alternative
  • Chiropractic

Once you have completed this step and are absolutely certain that your website is not already listed go step 3.

Step 3 – Suggest your URL and website information

After you have navigated to the section in which your business is to be listed, click on the “suggest URL” link, which can be found at the top right hand corner of the page and this will take you to the website submission page.

Once you arrive at the submission page, you will have the opportunity to enter all of the relevant information needed to submit your website.

The submission guidelines, which are clearly illustrated on the page, are stringent and must be followed if your website is to have a chance of being accepted.
