Homophone Paddle Boards!

Level 1 and 2 - Homophones

I created this resource as part of a homophone lesson for my level 1 class. All you need is the following:

  • Paper plates
  • Folder spines
  • Sellotape
  • Felt tips

Cut out the circle part of approximately 12 plates (this depends on how many homophones you wish to do).

Write examples of homophones on the plates e.g. dear & deer, there, their and they're.

Attach the folder spines with sellotape to the plates and voila! You have an easy resource to use as part of a homophone lesson!

You can use these for a listening activity. Distribute at least one paddle Board for each learner and read example sentences that include a homophone that's present on one of the boards. Learners should hold up if they think they have heard their homophone. Others can then confirm whether they are correct or not.

You could also use an interactive whiteboard where learners hold up their homophone to fill blanks on the board.

Enjoy!
