VIRTUAL INTERVIEW:THE NEW NORMAL

The measure of intelligence is the  ability to change.”- Albert Einstein.  Today’s global pandemic circumstances aren’t new and so are the changes associated with it. One such major drift in action is the change in the hiring process and its algorithm.

The human resource recruitment process which was established on open, direct & honest interactions is now dependent on technology. So, you have one choice; the choice to adopt and adapt often.

“Virtual Interview is the New Normal” and so is the “New Competition”.

According to 2019-20 statistics, India’s gross enrolment ratio (GER) improved to 27.1 per cent in 2019-20 as against 26.3 per cent in 2018-19 for the 18-23 years of age group. As per the survey conducted by CENSUS, which estimated approximately 38.5 million students enrol in Indian higher education.

So be ready – here you go!

  • Learn-Test-Improve

Understand the required technology; test run the mic, speaker and the internet connection. Virtually check your appearance, background, lighting and surrounding noise before the call.

Most importantly, it’s advisable to have a backup for power & internet.

Attend a few mock aptitude tests, and watch various visual content on YouTube to improve your interview skills, brush up your technical and academic knowledge.

  • Rehearsal is the Key

Practice does not only make you perfect but will also loosen your nervousness and fear of rejection. As you are aware that you are well prepared and have tried your best, you will not blame yourself if the interview doesn’t go your way, unfortunately.

Above all, mental toughness is important for professional growth.

  • Look Smart – Work Hard

BEFORE TIME.

Men who know how to look and when to look, will definitely know where to look!

  • Ве Document Ready

Carry your credibility and have a soft copy of your qualification and personal documents  accessible and deliverable to the recruiters when asked.

  • Do Your Homework –

Be aware of the schedule of your interview, the job description and the remuneration offered for the job. A genius is often a talented person who has simply done all of his homework at the right time. So, be a genius when you can!

  • Talk Like a Charm

Look into the camera directly and have good eye contact with the recruiter. Smile, greet & thank them for the opportunity given, before introducing yourself. Talk about your skill set that will help the organization during your tenure, but also do not forget to mention the empathic progress that the opportunity will bring to your career as well as your family.

  • Enforce their Memory

Post the interview, write a small email conveying your regards – and do not forget to add your phone number in the signature.Just one extra step from ordinary makes you extraordinary!

So, be extraordinary – be remembered!

  • Be Honest

Definitely, you need to convey your passion for your career in their organization but also convey the truth about yourself with honesty – in case of any current backlog, financial issues, lack of job experience, lack of project report or any medical reports.

Do not start a new venture with a false impression, because the truth eventually gets out.

If your first impression is as an “Honest Man” A job is the least you could Get!

    All the best!
