Quick Fire Round - Descriptive Language

Descriptive Language - GCSE English Language 9 -1

A resource designed to be used as a starter or a recap for delivering the four main descriptive language techniques - adjectives, similes, metaphors and personification.

The original session was based on the boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko, where learners had to compete against each other by thinking of descriptive language to describe the image. However, the resource can be used for any image that allows learners to think descriptively. An adjective is worth 1 point, similes and metaphors are worth 5 points and personification is worth 10!

This resource is also great for peer assessment as learners can check against each other's scores but also for targeted Q & A when learners share their ideas.
