JEE Main 2020: Application Form, Dates, Eligibility, Pattern, Syllabus

The Jee Main 2020 will be organized by the body which has been newly formulated ie. National Testing Agency. This is a screening test organized at a national level and is conducted every year to provide students admission into the following mentioned courses: B.E, B.Tech, B.Plan and B.Arch programmes. According to the decision which HRD ministry has taken the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is being conducted twice every year, once in the month of January and the other one in the month of April. The students who aspire to get admission into the engineering programmes in the prestigious institutes of India such as IIT’s, CFTI’s, NIT’s etc. need to qualify this exam by scoring the cutoff marks. In this article, the students will get all the information related to NTA JEE (Main) 2020.

JEE Main 2020 New Changes Introduced

The following are provided with the details regarding the new changes introduced in the Joint Entrance Exam Main 2020:

  • The responsibility of conducting the exam has been handed over to National Testing Agency (NTA) from 2019 onwards.
  • The JEE Main will be conducted twice in a year by NTA, once in the month of January and the other one in the month of April through online mode.
  • There is no age limit now to apply for this exam. The candidates who will fulfil the eligibility criteria from now onwards can appear for this exam, age not being the barrier.
  • The candidates to appear for the online mode exam will need to book their exam slots.
  • For JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Arch/B.Plan), it is compulsory that the candidates have Mathematics, chemistry and physics subjects.
  • There is no need for Aadhar card now to apply for the entrance exam of JEE Main 2020.
  • Those candidates would be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced who would be amongst the top 224000 qualified students.
  • The NTA to help the students with their preparation has set up more than 3400 Practice centres.
  • The students who have diabetes are allowed to take inside the exam hall following things: sugar tablets, water bottles and fruits.

JEE Main 2020 Application Form

The candidates can check the important details which are provided below related to IIT JEE Application Form:

  • The process of filling of application form for the session of January Month will take place from the first week of September 2019 onwards and the registration for April session will take place the second week of February 2020 onwards.
  • The entire process of online registration will contain the following steps: Registering online, Online filling of application, uploading the images, Application Fees payment and taking a print out of the application.
  • The deadline for submitting the application form for the session of January is last week of September 2019 whereas, for the session of April, the deadline for submitting the application form is until the first week of March 2020.
  • The candidates need to submit one application form only. If a candidate submits more than one application form it would then be rejected.

Application Fee:

 Payment Mode: The fees can be paid by the candidates using online mode through net banking/debit card/credit card. The SBI E- Challan method can also be used to pay the fees.

JEE Main 2020 Application Correction

The facility of correcting the applications of Joint Entrance Exam (Main) 2020 will be provided by the board to all the candidates who have successfully completed with their registrations. The facility will be provided only once to the students so that make the corrections in the details they have filled in the application form.

The opening date of Application Correction window will be from last week of October 2019 for the session of January but for the April session the opening date of Application Correction window will start from the month of February 2020.

The students can use only the online mode to make corrections in the details they have filled. The students will have to pay additional fees to correct the details in their application form.

The students need to make corrections in the details they have filled before the last date of submission of the application form.

JEE Main 2020 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates must carefully go through the eligibility criteria of the Mains exam before they start filling the application form:

General Eligibility:

  • Exam Qualification: The candidates who are applying must have cleared 10+2 exam or any equivalent exam from any board or university which is recognized.
  • Diploma Holders: The candidates who have done diploma can also apply for this exam but in IITs only.
  • Qualifying Subjects: The candidates must have cleared 10+2 with the following five compulsory subjects: Mathematics, Physics along with anyone subject from Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or any other technical vocational.
  • Age criteria: There is no age limit now to apply for JEE Mains 2020.
  • Number of Attempts: There is no limit on a number of attempts to apply for this exam.
  • Appearing Candidates: The candidates who are appearing for 10+2 exam this year are also eligible to apply.
  • Year of Appearance: Those candidates can only apply who have passed their 10+2 exam in 2018 or would be passing 10+2 in 2019. The candidates appearing for 10+2 exam in the year 2020 can also apply.

 Institutions wise Eligibility:

  • The students need to score at least 75% marks (65%- for SC/ST) to get admissions into NITs, CFTIs and other institutions.
  • The admission will be provided to the candidates on the basis of All India Rank which they have scored in the exam.

JEE Main 2020 Exam Pattern NTA

The students need to check the Exam pattern of JEE Main 2020 before they start preparing for the exam:

  • Exam Date: The entrance test of JEE Mains 2020 for January session will be conducted between the first to the third week of January 2020.
  • Mode of Exam: The mode of the exam will be online and the exam will be computer based. However, the drawing test in Paper II will be held in offline mode.
  • Number of Papers: The exam will consist of two papers: Paper I and Paper II. The paper I will be conducted for admission into E/B.Tech programme whereas Paper II will be conducted for admission into B.Arch and B.Plan programmes.
  • Number of Questions: The Paper I will have a total of 90 questions and Paper II will have a total of 80 questions.
  • Question Type: There will be multiple choice questions in both the papers, whereas paper II will comprise of a drawing test and will be subjective type.
  • Exam Language: The question papers will be available in the following languages: Hindi, English, Gujarati and some other state languages.
  • Time Duration: The candidates will get three hours to complete their paper and the candidates with 40% disability (PwD candidates) will get an extra one hour time to complete their paper.
  • Total Marks: The paper I will have a weightage of 360 marks whereas paper II will have a weightage of 390 marks.
  • Marking Scheme: The correct response will be awarded 4 marks and one mark will be deducted for every wrong response.

JEE Main Syllabus 2020

The students can check the whole JEE Main syllabus of 2020 online. The Paper I will have questions from multiple topics from 11th and 12th level Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.

The syllabus of Paper II will have topics from the following sections: Aptitude, Mathematics and Drawing sections.

The detailed syllabus of JEE Mains 2020 is given below:

Physics:

Physics and measurement, Rotational motion, Thermodynamics, Laws of motion, Oscillations and waves, Electronic devices, Electromagnetic induction and alternating currents, Current electricity, Optics, Electrostatics, Work, energy and power, Kinematics, Gravitation, Kinetic theory of gases, Properties of solids and liquids, etc.

Mathematics:

Sets, relations and functions, Matrices and determinants, Sequences and series, Mathematical induction, Binomial theorem and its simple applications, Integral calculus, Statistics and probability, Complex numbers and quadratic equations, Vector algebra, Trigonometry, Permutations and combinations, Mathematical reasoning, etc.

Chemistry:

Physical Chemistry: Some basic concepts in chemistry, Atomic structure, Equilibrium, Chemical Thermodynamics, Chemical bonding and molecular structure, Chemical kinetics, States of matter, etc.

Organic Chemistry: Purification and characterization of organic compounds, Organic compounds containing halogens, Chemistry in everyday life, Some basic principles of organic chemistry, Organic compounds containing nitrogen, etc.

Inorganic Chemistry: Classification of elements and periodicity in properties, D – and f – block elements, Block elements (alkali and alkaline earth metals), Hydrogen, Environmental chemistry, Block elements group 13 to group 18 elements, etc.

Syllabus For JEE Main 2020 Paper II:

Part I: Awareness of persons, places, Visualising three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional drawings, Buildings, Analytical Reasoning Mental Ability (Visual, Numerical and Verbal), Materials, Visualising, etc.

Part II: Understanding and appreciation of scale and proportion of objects, colour texture, building forms and elements, Transformation of forms both 2 D and 3 D union, harmony and contrast, Creating two dimensional and three dimensional compositions using given shapes and forms, subtraction, rotation, etc.

JEE Main Preparation Tips

The preparation tips for JEE Mains 2020 which would help the students to score well and hence qualify this exam are given below:

  • The students must have complete knowledge regarding the pattern of exam, syllabus and the marking scheme.
  • The students must make short notes which must comprise of the following: key points, formulas and concepts.
  • The students must study from study material which the qualified candidates and experienced teachers have recommended for JEE Mains 2020 exam.
  • The students need to practice from sample papers and exam papers of the previous year to get knowledge about the trend of the exam and the type of questions which can be asked in the exam.

JEE Main Slot Booking

 The National Testing Agency (NTA) will allocate the exam date, exam centres and the shift of the exam before some days of the release of admit card. The students will have to log in with the registered id and password to see their exam date which has been alloted, time, centre and shift. The officials will not entertain any request or correspondence in this case.

JEE Main Admit Card 2020

The registration process will be followed by the release of Admit Card for Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2020. The admit cards for January session would be available from the third week of December 2019 onwards and the admit cards for April session would be available from the third week of March 2020 onwards.

The students can click on the online link provided to download the admit card by entering their password and registration number. The candidates will be informed when the admit card would be released through the mail or SMS.

JEE Main 2020 Answer Key

The NTA will release the JEE Main Answer key after the entrance exam will get over ie.around the month of January 2020. The answer key will be published through online mode in PDF Format for both the papers. The candidates can check the answer key once it is available.

The candidates can access the answer key by entering their password and the application number. The candidates can cross check their answers by downloading the answer key and tallying the response with the answers given in the answer key, hence calculating their probable score.

The candidates can challenge the Answer key openly if they have any problem with the answers given in the Answer key for which they need to submit proof and pay a certain amount as fees.

JEE Main 2020 Result

The JEE Main Result for the January session would be announced by the last week of January 2020. Whereas, the JEE Main Result 2020 April session would be announced by the last week of April 2020. Furthermore, the candidates will have to enter their roll numbers and birth date to check their results. Finally, the scorecard will be released online after the announcement of results.

JEE Main 2020 Scorecard

The scorecard of JEE Main 2020 is very important as it will contain the following details about the candidates: name of the candidate, roll number, name of parents, eligibility state code, category, marks secured, All India rank, and category wise rank and the status of qualifying the exam.

The scorecards can be downloaded through online mode only and no dispatching of the scorecards will take place through the online mode.

JEE Main 2020 Rank List

The NTA will release the JEE Main Rank list for 2020 exams after the result declaration. Whereas, The candidates would be alloted the ranks according to the marks scored by them in JEE Main 2020 entrance exam. Furthermore, the Rank List will contain All India rank and the category rank of the candidate. Finally, the normalization procedure will be used to calculate the percentile score of the candidates.

JEE Main 2020 Cut Off

The JEE Main 2020 cut off will be released by NDA by online mode. The candidates need to score the cut off marks in order to appear in the All India centralized counselling process. The cutoff marks for various categories will be released.

JEE Main Counselling

The candidates who will get minimum cut-off marks would be eligible to participate in the JEE Main Counselling Process. The JEE Main 2020 counselling process will take place through online mode only. The first step is that the students need to get themselves registered. JoSAA ie.the Joint Seat Allocation Authority will organize the counselling process. The candidates would be alloted seats into the institutions such as IIT, NIT, CFTI etc.

The seats would be allocated on the basis of the category of the applicant, rank secured availability of seats and other factors. The candidates will have to report to the institutions alloted to them after the seat allocation for the process of verification of documents.
