The first day of the India Vs Australia 3rd Test match saw Australia posting 299/4 in their first innings as Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell shone with the bat at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi on Thursday.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli had suffered from a shoulder injury during fielding and had to withdraw from the match, with Ajinkya Rahane stepping in as Captain, however according to BCCI he has recovered and will return for the remaining match.
