Delhi State Election Commissioner S.K. Srivastava on Tuesday quashed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s request to use Ballot Paper instead of EVMs and said that EVMs will be used in the upcoming municipal corporation elections in Delhi.
Elections to the three municipal corporations in the national capital — north, south and east Delhi — will be held on April 22 and results declared on April 25, the Delhi State Election Commission said on Tuesday.
Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote a letter to Election Commission of India and urged them to not use Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in upcoming Municipal Elections in Delhi.
Delhi CM demanded voting by ballot paper after allegations of tampering EVMs in Assembly elections were levelled by politicians following results of Uttar Pradesh assembly election.
