Renault’s Upcoming Cars To Watch Out For In 2017

Renault India has emerged to be one of the leading automaker company in past couple of years. The brand become more popular after the launch of its entry-level hatchback Renault Kwid in 2015.

The company witnessed gain over 5 percent market share in the Indian market after the launch of Renault Kwid. The success of the car encouraged company to launch its different new variants like Kwid 1.0-litre version, Kwid AMT and the special edition Kwid Climber. The company also launched the highly updated Renault Duster Facelift last year, which also came with an automated manual transmission (AMT) option.

In fact, Renault has planned to launch several new and updated models for India and here are the ones ready to be launched in 2017.

Renault Duster Petrol CVT

The company is about to launch the petrol versions of the automatic variant of the Duster in India petrol mated to a continuous variable transmission (CVT) unit, after witnessing the increase in demand for petrol version. Renault Duster EasyR is the currently available variant of automatic variant of Duster and it is available only in diesel trim model.

The petrol model will also come with a proper auto box along with an automated manual transmission. The CVT unit will be paired with the 1.6 litre K4M engine with 102 bhp and 148 Nm of peak torque.

The company is expected to launch the car in May 2017 and it is likely to offer the petrol CVT in the RxL and RxZ trims – so expect a fully loaded package.

Expected Price – ₹ 10 lakh

Renault Lodgy AMT

The Renault Lodgy is known to be one of the key products for the French carmaker Renault in the Indian market. Lodgy is Renault’s first MPV in India and it came to Indian market with a poweful engine and offered decent safety and comfort features.

Now, Understanding the need of the hour, the company is currently working on an AMT version of the Lodgy that is expected to go on sale this year in India.

The MPV will use the same Easy-R AMT unit that does duty on the recently launched Duster facelift.

Expected Price – ₹ 10 lakh – ₹ 12 lakh

Expected Launch – 2nd Half 2017

Renault Kaptur

The French automaker has already unveiled its 5-seater crossover- Kaptur earlier this year in Russia. The Renault Kaptur is not a sub-4 metre SUV, but it measures 4333mm in length due to which it comes in league of the Hyundai Creta and the new Honda BR-V.

According to the Reports, Renault will bring the car to India but not before launching it in Brazil which will be sometime later in 2017.

It is expected that India-bound model of Renault Kaptur will borrow its powertrain from the Renault Duster and the petrol version to come mated to a CVT unit like the upcoming Duster Petrol CVT.

Expected Price – ₹ 8 lakh – ₹ 12 lakh
