A MAN had to share a testimony on how he escaped death from the clutch of a madman in Florida.

It was disclosed that Mark Cavanagh, 51, had been hoping to find love via internet dating - instead, he nearly died at the hands of sadistic killer Steven Lund.

He reports to media, how he woke to find Lund, 63, standing over him armed with a knife and had slashed his throat.

Wearing just a towel and covered in blood, Mark fought him off in a desperate struggle that ended up in a corridor of his flat complex, then ran out into the street to beg for help.

Evil Lund then calmly got dressed and walked away, leaving Mark for dead as a stranger gave him CPR.

CCTV caught the horrific scenes on camera and was shown to a court as Lund was sentenced to 27 years for attempted murder this week.
