It was quite an emotional moment at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Monday 24 February 2020. The world held a memorial service in honour of late basketball legend; Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna. The duo lost their lives, among others in a helicopter crash about a month ago. The tribute witnessed thousands of people in attendance, trooping in to pay their last respects to the basketball legend. Celebrities like Michael Jordan, Beyonce, Shaq O’Neal, Christina Aguilera, and others graced the occasion.
When NBA legend; Michael Jordan, gave his speech, he said Kobe was a dear friend and like a little brother to him. In his words, “When Kobe Bryant died, a piece of me died”. Kobe’s colleagues in the industry including Shaq O’Neal, Stephen Curry, Michael Phelps and a host of others, were in attendance.

Kobe Bryant’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, rendered an emotional farewell to Gigi and Kobe. In her speech, she described her relationship with Kobe and how they have been together for a number of years. This was part of her concluding speech:
Babe, you take care of our Gigi. I got Nati, BiBi and KoKo, and we’re still the best team.
