Early this morning; Wednesday 19 February, Rapper Pop Smoke was reported dead in his house. He was murdered in what appears like a home invasion robbery, according to TMZ. The rapper was home in the Hollywood Hills when two men; wearing hoodies and masks broke into the house and fired multiple shots. He was pronounced dead at a hospital in West Hollywood.

Pop Smoke is regarded as one of the rewarding talents in the US. At 20, he’s just beginning to make a headway with his career; having just snagged a Billboard feature. His death triggers the memories of artistes like Nipsey Hussle, Juice Wrld, and XXXTentacion.

Tributes have trooped in from celebrities including Nicki Minaj and 50 Cent. The former wrote:

The Bible tells us that jealousy is as cruel as the grave. Unbelievable. Rest In Peace, Pop.

Nicki’s comment sends a signal indicating whether the murderers may have been associated with the deceased. 50 Cent wrote:

R.I.P to my man Pop Smoke, No sympathy for winners. God bless him.
