Sir Victor Olaiya joined the league of ancestors on Wednesday 12 February 2020. His death was announced by Bimbo Esho; Managing Director of the Evergreen Music Company Limited.

The statement she released read: “The entire music world wish to announce the death of a legend of highlife music – one of the last man standing, the last of the originals, Dr Victor Olaiya, OON”.

Sir Victor Olaiya passed on at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital [LUTH] by 12 noon yesterday. He is associated with the evergreen and sensational music; ‘Baby Jowo’ which subsequently featured 2Baba in a remix.
