Alhaji Yusuf Olajide, popularly known as Oko Oloyun, was gunned down in the late hours of Thursday; 23 January. Oko Oloyun is acknowledged with the practice of traditional medicine across Nigeria and probably beyond.
It was reported that the incident occurred at 4:30 pm; Ewura-Igbo Ora road. The deceased was said to have been on a journey to Iseyin, Oyo state when gunmen attacked his vehicle and shot at him.
The Oyo State Police Division has confirmed the death of Alhaji Yusuf Olajide. According to the Public Relations Officer; Gbenga Fadeyi, Yusuf’s corpse had been deposited in the Igo-Ora General Hospital’s mortuary. He also added that the state Commissioner of Police has deployed a tactical team to investigate the incident.
Nigerians have expressed deep lamentations following the death of Oko Oloyun. Shina Peller; Honourable Minister and owner of Quilox Club, has similarly extended his condolences to the bereaved family:
